Detroit DD16 GHG14 (2014-16) Fault Code: SPN 2798 FMI 4 (MCM) Injector Needle Control Valve Cylinder 4, 5, 6 Shorted to Ground

DESCRIPTION:
Injector needle control valve cylinder 4, 5, 6, shorted to ground.

MONITORED PARAMETER:
Injector needle control valve cylinder 4, 5, 6.

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Engine rpm = Idle or higher.

MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None

EXECUTION FREQUENCY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.

TYPICAL DURATION:
Two seconds

DASH LAMPS:
1. MIL
2. CEL

ENGINE REACTION:
Derate 25%

VERIFICATION:
Engine Idle: One minute.

NOTE: Remove rocker cover and disconnect 1 injector at a time. Measure resistance between pin #3 of injector and ground. If more than 3 ohms, replace the injector.

PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. Injector 4, 5, or 6.
2. Short to ground between pin 25 of the 120-pin ECM connection and pin 1 of the front fuel injector harness (14-pin) connector.
3. Failed MCM (Engine ECM).
