Detroit DD16 GHG14 (2014-16) Fault Code: SPN 723 FMI 10 (MCM) Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Signal Erratic

DESCRIPTION:
This code sets when the camshaft position (CMP) sensor signal is erratic.

MONITORED PARAMETER:
Camshaft position sensor signal.

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Engine idle

MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None

EXECUTION FREQUENCY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.

TYPICAL DURATION:
Two seconds

DASH LAMPS:
MIL

ENGINE REACTION:
None

VERIFICATION:
Engine idle

PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. Camshaft position sensor connector/harness.
2. Camshaft position sensor.
3. Improper timing or installation of the gear train, camshaft, or flywheel.
4. Starter failure (if less than 150 RPM out of starter).
