PACCAR PX-9 CM2350 (2013-17) Fault Code:3567 PID: SPN:5394 FMI:5 Aftertreatment 1 Diesel Exhaust Fluid Dosing Valve 1 Circuit – Current Below Normal or Open Circuit

Reason:
Aftertreatment Diesel Exhaust Fluid Dosing Valve – Current Below Normal or Open Circuit. A circuit error has been detected in the aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid dosing valve circuit.

Effect:
Possible reduced engine performance.

Circuit Description:
The aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid dosing valve is controlled by the ECM. When the engine control module (ECM) commands DEF dosing, the ECM sends a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal to the dosing valve, which opens the dosing valve and allows DEF to be sprayed into the exhaust stream.

Component Location:
The aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid dosing valve is installed in the exhaust system. It is mounted directly to the aftertreatment decomposition tube, before the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst. Installation position will vary, based on the aftertreatment architecture and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

Conditions for Running the Diagnostics:
This diagnostic runs when the diesel exhaust fluid dosing valve is being commanded on.

Conditions for Setting the Fault Codes:
The Engine Control Module (ECM) detected the aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid dosing valve circuit was shorted high, shorted low, or open.

Action Taken When the Fault Code is Active:
1) The ECM illuminates the amber CHECK ENGINE lamp and/or the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) immediately when the diagnostic runs and fails.
2) Diesel exhaust fluid injection into the aftertreatment system is disabled.
3) Engine torque will be reduced if the engine is operated for an extended period of time with this fault active.
4) Engine torque will be severely reduced.

Conditions for Clearing the Fault Code:
1) To validate the repair, start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, shut OFF the engine, perform a key cycle, and leave the key in the ON position for 1 minute.
2) To validate the repair, perform the “Aftertreatment Diesel Exhaust Fluid Doser Pump Override Test” found under “ECM Diagnostic Tests” in the INSITE™ electronic service tool
3) The fault code status displayed by INSITE™ electronic service tool will change to INACTIVE immediately after the diagnostic runs and passes.
4) The ECM will turn off the amber CHECK ENGINE lamp immediately after the diagnostic runs and passes.
5) For On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) engines, the ECM will extinguish the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) after three consecutive trips where the diagnostic runs and passes.
6) The Reset All Faults command in INSITE™ electronic service tool can be used to clear active and inactive faults, as well as extinguish the MIL for OBD applications.

Shop Talk:
Reference the appropriate OEM wiring diagram when troubleshooting circuits that utilize wiring supplied by the OEM.

For intermittent power supply and datalink communication issues with Aftertreatment Components, it is highly recommended that the OEM Power Distribution Center fuses and relays be thoroughly checked for loose, missing or intermittent connections.

After the repair, It is Important to idle the engine for a minimum of 5 minutes to clear the derate.

Possible Causes:
1) Open circuit in the diesel exhaust fluid dosing valve
2) A short circuit to battery in the OEM harness
3) A short circuit to ground in the OEM harness
4) An open circuit in the OEM harness
