The Boost Air Pressure Sensor is used to monitor the pressure of the air in the intake system after the turbocharger. The sensor consists of a pressure sensitive diaphragm/amplifier sensor. Air pressure causes the sensors diaphragm to deflect and produce an electrical signal proportional to the pressure. The diaphragm deflection signal is amplified in the sensor.
The sensor signals are used to calculation fuel injection and is monitored by the Engine Control Module (ECM).
The engine control module (ECM) will set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and derate the engine to avoid engine damage if the sensor signal is not within predetermined limits, or the signal is not rational.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) The voltage at pin A14.EA:22 is less than 0.29?V
Observable symptoms
1) Low Power
2) The charge pressure gauge shows 0 in the instrument
Probable cause
1) Wiring harness
2) Intake manifold air temperature (IMAT) and pressure sensor
Detailed information
1) Pressure set to atmospheric pressure plus 30 kPa (4.5 psi)
