The Turbo Speed Sensor is an inductive sensor. When the engine is running, the turbocharger shaft rotates past the Turbo Speed Sensor tip and a pulsed voltage signal is generated. The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the frequency of the signal generated by the Turbo Speed Sensor to calculate the turbo speed.
The turbo speed signal is used to calculate fuel injection.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) A charge air pressure sensor that is indicating a higher than normal value in some cases can set a turbocharger speed sensor fault
Probable cause
1) Turbo Speed Sensor
2) Incorrectly installed sensor
3) Faulty parameters
