Volvo All Engines (2010 Emissions) Fault Code: SPN 2659 FMI 16 PID: PPID 35 Engine Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Mass Flow Rate – Modertaely Severe level
This function is used to calculate the EGR Mass Flow. The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the EGR diffpressure sensor and the EGR temperature sensor after cooler and uses these signals to calculate the EGR Mass Flow data.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) EGR mass flow above calculated value
2) The EGR mass flow is an calculated value based on a number of sensor signals and software calculations
Observable symptoms
1) Possible smoke emitted from exhaust outlet with pipe disconnected
Probable cause
1) Connector
2) Wiring harness
3) EGR Valve
4) EGR System
5) EGR differential pressure sensor
6) Charge air system leakage
Detailed information
1) The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is first set after 30?min when driving with varying engine loads
2) At idle the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is normally not set to active
3) The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be shown as inactive when the ignition key is turned to the 0 position
4) To fully verify the repair it may be necessary to activate vehicle functions or perform a test drive
