The aftertreatment control module (ACM) supplies a pulsed ground signal to activate the ignition coil. The ignition coil is connected to the ignition electrodes by two ignition wires. When activated it supplies 40,000 to 45,000 volts to the ignition electrodes creating an arc that ignites the atomized fuel and air mixture in the aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF) combustion chamber of the aftertreatment DPF.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Pin: 13 (Control wire (-)), Current below normal or open circuit
Observable symptoms
1) Regeneration not possible
Probable cause
1) Wiring harness between Aftertreatment ignition coil and Aftertreatment Control Module (ACM)
2) Aftertreatment ignition coil
3) Aftertreatment Control Module (ACM)
