This function is used to check if the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) temperature sensor is working and check the status on the EGR cooler. If the sensor should show a value above limit due to extreme driving or malfunction in the cooler, the Engine Control Module (ECM) will derate the engine to avoid damage.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Temperature above normal, EGR System
Observable symptoms
1) Engine de-rated
Probable cause
1) Temperature sensor, EGR
2) Insufficient cooling effect, EGR Cooler
