The system calculates the output torque. The engine control module (ECM) will set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) when the output torque is not within programmed limits. The function is to detect emission variations that can lead to that the emission levels are not fulfilled.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) The torque calculated by the diagnostic function is too high compared to the predicted torque
2) In a cold climate the engine gives higher torque
Observable symptoms
1) High torque
Probable cause
1) Parameter code, unit injector
2) Worn injector
3) Fuel
4) Introduction of a combustible from an external source
