The (VECU) Vehicle Electronic Control Unit supplies and monitors the cranking signal to the starter motor relay. Several types of starter cranking protection are provided so the starter cannot be engaged in unwanted conditions. The starter cranking protection will also limit the maximum cranking time to 18 seconds without cycling the key
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Output A14.EB:29 active
2) Short circuit to battery voltage
3) This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is set only when the ignition key is held in the start position for approximately 3?s
Observable symptoms
1) Starter motor does not run
Probable cause
1) Wire between Engine Control Module (ECM) and starter motor relay
2) Starter motor relay (K65)
