Volvo Engine D12D AE E3 (Tier 3) Fault Code: SID22 FMI 3 Timing Sensor, Crank
DETECTION CONDITIONS:
The engine control unit (E-ECU) registers that the signal from the speed sensor is missing. (EA37/EA38)
SYMPTOM:
1. Engine runs rough/ varying engine speed.
2. Misfiring.
3. Engine stops/cannot be started (on condition that camshaft signal is also incorrect).
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Positive cable short-circuited to voltage.
2. Positive cable short-circuited to frame ground.
3. Negative cable short-circuited to voltage.
4. Incorrectly installed sensor.
5. Open circuit on positive cable.
6. Open circuit on negative cable.
7. Short-circuit between cables or in component.
8. Loose connection.
9. Incorrectly installed sensor.
10. Defective sensor.
