The ambient air temperature signal is sent to the instrument cluster module. The instrument cluster module then transmits the ambient air temperature data to the Engine Control Module (ECM) via the J1939 data lines.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) No ambient air temperature sensor signal
Probable cause
1) Ambient air temperature sensor
2) Wiring harness
3) Ambient temperature below -30??C (-22??F)
