The Engine Control Module (ECM) uses water in fuel sensor/switch to monitor the water level in the fuel pre-filter. When it is time for drainage a water level warning is indicated in the instrument. It?s possible to activate the function when draining is needed. When the function is activated the water in fuel valve is opened and the water drained from the fuel system. Faulty water in fuel valve can lead to that the valve is constantly shut.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Short circuit to battery voltage on A14.EA:3
Diagnostic operating conditions
1) Ignition key in ON position
Observable symptoms
1) The solenoid valve cannot be activated
2) Water drainage is not possible
Probable cause
1) Connector
2) Wiring harness
3) Drain valve, water in fuel
