Cummins ISL CM850 (2003-06) Fault Code: 2353 PID: SID 146 SPN: 2971 FMI: 6 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve control circuit – current above normal or grounded circuit. Excess current detected at the EGR valve motor output circuit.
The ECM monitors the current draw of this circuit. If the ECM detects excessive current for a calibrated period of time, it records this fault.
Possible causes:
1)EGR valve motor (+) or (-) leads shorted together in the engine harness, EGR valve motor, or ECM
2)Low EGR valve motor internal resistance.
Possible epairs:
1)Replace the EGR valve assembly.
2)Repair or replace the engine harness.
3)Replace the EGR valve assembly.
