Cummins ISX CM870 (2003-06) Fault Code: 2347 PID: S309 SPN: 2790 FMI: 0/15 Turbocharger Compressor Outlet Temperature (Calculated) – Data Valid But Above Normal Operating Range – Least Severe Level. High turbocharger compressor outlet air temperature has been calculated by the engine control module (ECM).

Note: This fault code may become active if the protective shipping sticker is not removed from the port located on the end opposite of the connector. When installing a new turbocharger control valve, make sure the adhesive cover is removed.

Note: Before performing the INSITE? electronic service tool EGR Valve and EGR Valve/Turbocharger Operational Test, be sure the ECM Calibration Software Phase is updated to the latest Software Phase. The ECM Calibration Phase Software can be checked in INSITE? electronic service tool, under ‘Features and Parameters’. Expand the selection for ‘System ID and Dataplate’ and go to ‘Calibration Information’. If the Software Phase is earlier than shown below, recalibrate the ECM using the January 2006 INCAL? CD-ROM, or later. Engines with the Software Phase listed below, or later, do not require a recalibration.

ISX engines with CM870 (engines built after January 2004) require Software Phase 06050302.

ISX engines with CM870 (engines built before January 2004) require no changes at this time.

This is a warrantable calibration change.

Possible causes:

1)Air intake leaks allowing hot under hood air to enter the intake system
2)Faulty intake manifold pressure readings
3)High turbocharger speed readings
4)Faulty barometric pressure readings
5)Stuck turbocharger control valve
6)Stuck variable geometry turbocharger.
Note: Unless the malfunction is a damaged barometric pressure sensor or intake manifold pressure sensor, this fault code will not become active without a load in the shop. The engine will need to be loaded to trip this fault code and to determine if the failure has been found and fixed.

NOTE: Unless the issue is a malfunctioning barometric pressure sensor or intake manifold pressure sensor, this fault code will most likely not be active with no load in the shop. The engine will most likely need to be loaded to trip this fault code, and to determine if the malfunction has been found and repaired.

Possible repairs:

1)Correct the cause of high intake air restriction. Check for a plugged air filter or restricted air intake piping.
2)Repair the charge air-cooler connections or charge-air cooler.
3)Tighten the loose connections and/or clean the terminals.
4)Replace the turbocharger control valve.
5)Clean or replace the EGR differential pressure sensor tubes.
6)Replace the turbocharger actuator.
7)Replace the turbocharger control valve.
8)Replace the variable geometry turbocharger.
