This diagnostic function indicates malfunction at the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor. The purpose of the exhaust gas sensor is to contribute the relevant temperatures required for the temperature regulated aftertreatment diesel particulate filter regeneration control. A faulty EGT sensor can result with a failed aftertreatment (DPF) regeneration.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) The sensor value is not within an expected range
2) Too high of temperature difference compared to the other DPF temperature sensors
Observable symptoms
1) Regeneration not possible
Probable cause
1) Exhaust system leakage
2) Aftertreatment exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensors installed in the incorrect location on the aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF)
3) Wiring harness
4) Connector
5) Post aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF), Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor
