This diagnostic function indicates malfunction at the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor. The purpose of the exhaust gas sensor is to contribute the relevant temperatures required for the temperature regulated aftertreatment diesel particulate filter regeneration control. A faulty EGT sensor can result with a failed aftertreatment (DPF) regeneration.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Exhaust temperature, Lower than expected
Observable symptoms
1) This function indicates that the NOx conversion efficiency is not correct
Probable cause
1) Aftertreatment exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensors installed in the incorrect location on the aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF)
2) Low compression
3) Pre-catalyst, Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor
4) Exhaust system
5) Fan
6) Aftertreatment Hydrocarbon Doser
7) Aftertreatment selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst
