Cummins ISL CM850 (2003-06) Fault Code: 2249 PID: 157 SPN: 157 FMI: 1 Injector Metering Rail 1 Pressure – Data Valid but Below Normal Operational Range – Most Severe Level. The ECM has detected that fuel pressure is lower than commanded pressure.
Fault Code 2249 is very similar to Fault Code 559 except that the fault triggers at a different fuel pressure threshold limit. If Fault Code 2249 is active, the troubleshooting procedures for Fault Code 559 must be followed.
Possible repairs:
1)High inlet restriction
2)Excessive air in fuel
3)Loss of fuel prime during cranking
4)Plugged fuel filter
5)Low lift pump pressure
6)Stuck or restricted electronic fuel control actuator
7)System return (excessive return flow from the injector, high-pressure pump, or rail pressure relief valve)
8)Tampering.
